PDF Page Numbers fills in the numbering a document never got: scans, merged bundles, exports that left the footer empty. Pick a position and a format, and every page you choose is numbered in one pass. The numbers are drawn onto each page as text objects rather than images, so they stay sharp at any zoom.

That is a different thing from the “page x of y” indicator a PDF reader shows. The number written here is visible text on the page and will print; the reader's counter is only a position hint and never reaches paper.

1. 01Choose the positionthe six buttons under “Position” are top left, top centre, top right, bottom left, bottom centre and bottom right; bottom centre is the default.
2. 02Set the styleunder “Format”, pick “1, 2, 3”, “1 / N” or “- 1 -”. “Start at” defaults to 1 and accepts 0 or any other number. Font size runs 8–28 pt, margin 8–72 pt, and the colour is up to you.
3. 03Set the page scopeleave it empty for every page, type a range such as 3-, or click pages in the middle area and press “Selected pages” to fill the range in.
4. 04Add the numbers and downloadclick “Add page numbers and download” to get <original-name>_page-numbers.pdf.

Supported input

standard PDFs; encrypted files need the password removed with “PDF Unlock” first.

Formats

three Arabic-numeral styles only — no Roman numerals, no word labels such as “page 3”; the font is fixed to Helvetica.

Numbering rule

the number increases from the start value in the order of the scoped pages; the N in “1 / N” equals the start number plus the scoped page count − 1.

Rotated pages

a page that carries a rotation attribute gets its number placed the way you see the page, so the position does not drift.

What it does not do

it does not remove or cover existing numbers (mask them with “PDF Redact” first), does not change the reader's logical page labels, and does not add header or footer text (use the text watermark in “PDF Watermark”).

The number text is written into the PDF locally in your browser, and the file is never uploaded.
