Word to PDF turns a .docx into a PDF on a device without Office. It first parses the document with mammoth into structural blocks — headings, paragraphs, lists, tables, images — then paginates again with its own layout engine using the paper, font size and line spacing you choose, drawing each page as an image and assembling the pages into a PDF. The result is therefore an approximation: the content and hierarchy are there, but it is not a page-for-page replica of what Word shows.

When matching Word matters more, use Browser print (fallback): the document is rendered in an isolated window and the system print dialog opens, where you choose Save as PDF — that path gives text you can select. To preview content or convert to HTML or Markdown, use Word converter.

2. 02Tune the layout— A4 or Letter paper; body text 9–16 pt (default 11); line spacing 1.2–2.2× (default 1.55); margins 8–32 mm (default 18); Show page numbers prints “Page n of n” centered in the footer.

4. 04Generate— click Generate and download PDF; the progress bar shows “Rendering page by page”, and the file downloads under the original name with .pdf. For a closer match to Word, click Browser print (fallback) and choose Save as PDF in the system dialog.

Kept

— headings 1 to 6, paragraphs including centered and right-aligned, bold, italic, monospace, ordered and unordered lists (with nested indents), block quotes, images, simple tables and horizontal rules.

Lost

— headers and footers, columns, text boxes and WordArt, footnotes and endnotes, comments and tracked changes, cell background colors, the original fonts and sizes (everything is re-laid out in the system Chinese font at the size you set) and the original page breaks.

Output

— one bitmap per page (JPEG for pages with images, PNG for text-only pages, about 144 dpi), so text cannot be selected or searched; use Browser print when you need selectable text.

Tables

— rows move whole across page breaks; cell content taller than a page is cut off; nested tables and merged cells are treated as ordinary tables.

What it does not do

— no .doc, .rtf or .odt conversion, no macros or field codes kept and no PDF encryption (encrypt the result with Protect PDF); to just preview or extract text, use Word converter.

The .docx is parsed, laid out and turned into a PDF in your browser; the file contents are never uploaded to any server, and Browser print only opens the print dialog on your machine. The data is released from memory when you close the page.
