• This is not a translation tool: the page works on the English dictionary data of DictionaryAPI.dev.
• The query is URL-encoded and placed in the request path; invalid input is rejected locally.
• Entry coverage, examples and audio are not available for every word; a 404, rate limiting or a network error goes straight into the result.
• Pronunciation files come from the external audio URLs the API returns, and the browser only requests that audio host when you actually press play.

• Good for checking an English definition, its part of speech and its pronunciation.
• Confirming how a word is normally used while you are writing.

The query is sent to the third-party DictionaryAPI.dev; if you play the pronunciation, the browser also reaches the audio host the API supplies. Do not use passwords, tokens or other secrets as dictionary lookups.
